Short walk or cycle route from skiareal Herlíkovice

  • Take the four-seat chair lift to the summit of Žalý and take a walk/ ride.

  •  2. Žalý - Rovinka - Bubákov - Herlíkovice (15 km long)

  • focuses mainly on the historical evolution of western Krkonose from the beginning of the big colonization in 13th century up till now
  • Part of the exhibition is a collection of the origin of czech skiing ( from 1914 ) and also a unique mobile Nativity scene with sound

  • you can hike up to the highest mountain of the Czech Republic from Spindleruv MlynThe shorter
  • the shorter version is to take a bus, but that operates only in summer

  •   the mightiest river of Bohemia, springs at an elevation of 1 386, in peat bog of the Labská meadow
  • the river is 1 122km long, 364,4 km on the territory of the Czech Republic

  • a dominant feature of Cesky raj are the remains of the Vartemberk castle towers.
  • the castle was built in the 14th century on whinstone rocks (smaller is Baba, higher Panna)
  • observation point can be visited under the Panna tower


Geared railway

  • a ride on the way Tanvald – Harrachov is a Czech rarity
  • this ride with the original geared locomotive is definitely worth it!

  • offers a permanent exhibition which includes everything concerning Krkonos
  • ranges from historical collections, art, and archeology to botany and zoology
  • there are also many temporary exhibitions

Bozkov karsts dolomite caves near Semily

  • some of the few accessible and the biggest dolomite caves in Bohemia
  • these are remarkable mainly because they contain the largest underground lake
  • open: Tue – Sun: April – June, September, October: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., July + August: 7 a.m. - 7.p.m.
